![]() Graduation for All represents the second SPDG in FL providing support for Check & Connect and/or SIM™ to improve outcomes for secondary students with disabilities. Participating Middle and High Schools receive information, materials and coaching necessary to implement Check & Connect and/or the Strategic Instructional Model (SIM™). Implementing Check & Connect During Distance Learning: Information for Districts Participating in SPDGįlorida's State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG), Graduation for All (2017-2022), provides technical assistance and professional development to targeted school districts across Florida. Sorry this was such a long post, but I don't want others to make the mistake I did of going to FGCU.Florida's State Personnel Development Grant Bottom line is if you have goals to attend graduate or medical school DO NOT GO TO FGCU. Due to my experience, and the lack of education I received at FGCU I have transferred to the University of Florida as it better suits what I am wanting to do in life. The biology professors are excellent so no complaints there. ![]() The physics department is also horrible, with all the professors coming in at a whopping 2stars max on Rate my Professor. Every other chem professor is horrible and the smartest person I have ever met almost failed organic chem because how bad her professor was. The chemistry department is horrendous, with the exception of my organic chemistry Dr. I pursued a Biology degree as I hope to attend Medical School, and I was very displeased with the professors there. The students who go there are average at best, I only know 3 people who I would say are actually smart and added value to my knowledge when I studied with them. That being said, that is the only good thing I have to say about FGCU. That is their only good aspect, is their financial aid is unrivaled. The sole reason I chose FGCU was because they offered me a full scholarship and paid me to go there. I applied to 9 schools, and was accepted to all of them, including the University of Florida. I graduated high school with my AA so you could say that I am an above average student. It has given me more opportunities than I ever imagined, I found my love for learning, and I met some of the most incredible individuals." Overall, I am so thankful every day that I chose to attend Florida Gulf Coast University. It is very common to see peers studying on the library lawn in 80-degree weather in between classes. The overall culture at the university is supportive and laid back. FGCU also focuses on giving back to the community which I believe to be another characteristic that sets it apart from other schools at this level. The city is not overly distracting which allows students to really focus and get to know classmates. ![]() ![]() The campus is gorgeous, environmentally friendly, and in a great location. You definitely will not get that same personalized help at just any school. That same professor helped me diversify my application, wrote me a letter of recommendation, and helped prepare me for my interview. In fact, the only reason I ever considered applying to top 10 master's program is that I had a professor motivate me to give it a shot. I had professors constantly vouching for me, sending new opportunities, providing connections, and giving advice. I worked hard and did well in school and because of that, I stood out. The small school environment provides great visibility for those that work hard. If you work hard and demonstrate initiative to take advantage of opportunities you will prosper. "The four years that I spent at Florida Gulf Coast were the best years of my life.
